Eyewear Takes Over at Billboard Music Awards

Last night’s 2012 Billboard Music Awards went off without a hitch as Modern Family‘s favorite on-screen couple — played by Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen — hosted an evening full of laughs, high-energy performances and emotional tributes. As expected, Adele racked up the accolades, leading the evening with 12 awards, followed by other popular stars like Justin Bieber, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. There were plenty of winners at the show, but as you know, we were most interested in the spexy accessories.

Singers like John Legend, Chester Bennington and Nelly Furtado rocked the geek chic look, from black and dapper to crazy and colorful, while LMFAO and Far East movement kept up their signature popstar appeal with embellished specs and sunnies. Classic and updated aviators, in both metal and plastic varieties, also made their mark on plenty of front men. Taio Cruz repped a pair of edgy, futuristic shields and Whoopi Goldberg and YouTube sensation, Keenan Cahill, kept it simple in traditional frames.
