‘Tis the season to attend lots of snazzy holiday affairs! Regardless of where you’re gallivanting off to—whether it’s a corporate festivity with co-workers, a fun shindig with your best girlfriends, a swanky soiree with your beau or an intimate gathering with close pals—you’ll need the perfect beauty looks to complement the occasion. Lucky for you, I’ve picked my favorite hairstyles and makeup products—inspired by some of the top fashionistas—as well as eyewear of course, that’ll travel with you to any celebratory carousal. Happy partying, ladies!
Professional and Polished
Command respect, while still dressing to impress, by maximizing the minimalism trend in a sophisticated way.
Celebrity inspiration: Julianne Moore
Hair: Part tresses neatly on the side or straight down the middle—it’s your call! Then comb into a slick ponytail, fastened with a clear elastic band. Keep the style in place while adding significant shine with a strong-hold hairspray. Bobby pins are a big runway trend that work perfectly for this look—not only can a few well-placed bobby pins keep the look where you want it, but they add an extra element of style to an otherwise simple ‘do.
Makeup: Matte—but not flat!—skin is the perfect canvas for “natural-but-better” makeup. A peachy blush, defined lashes and a strong brow will create the angles for the most flattering face. On the lips, a subtle berry or coral—depending on your personal preference—adds the finishing touch without setting off the balance of the overall look.
Flirty and Festive
Playful details make going girly a gorgeous option!

Hair: There is something super flirtatious about an exaggerated side part, with a skinny braid in the mix for an added element of fun. If you really feel like being playful, you can even braid a piece of hair tinsel into the look to add some holiday sparkle! Tuck one side behind your ear to emphasize your eyes and contoured cheekbones.
Makeup: This look is very much about the eyes, so focus on really making them pop. Black liquid liner is a must—winged liner at the outer corners gives way to a cat-eye effect. Then, let it glow! Neutral-toned shadows with glossy finishes (look for cream formulas) are the perfect backdrops for super lush lashes—a couple coats of volumizing mascara should do the trick. For the lips, go with a baby pink lipstick, topped with a dab of sparkly clear gloss for a plumping effect. Tap a balmy, luminizing blush onto the apples of the cheeks for a fresh finish!
Getting glam doesn’t have to mean a smoky eye and a red lip—give it a modern twist inspired by the fashion runways.
Celebrity inspiration: Lupita Nyong’o
Hair: Modern short hair-dos are well-suited to this style. Typically, these “wash-and-go” cuts lend themselves to architectural accessories and bold makeup that create the ultimate modern glamorous effect. If you have longer locks, a smooth blowout with volume on the top and straight, angular ends will work.
Makeup: Taking inspiration from color-blocked looks on the catwalks, choose one hue for the eyes and an equally bold complement for the lips to balance the face in the most interesting way! Blue or purple kajal liner is a great universal choice—kajal formulas are soft and blend-able, so the look doesn’t come off as too severe. And for the lips, fuchsia or a classic red always wows.
Eyewear: Pick frames with vintage fervor in a rich color! Think classic Jackie O. silhouettes but in unexpected hues. Retro-inspired round sunglasses from Valentino in elegant emerald, not to mention softened oval specs from David Yurman in brilliant cherry red, are great options.
Cute and Cozy
A fresh-faced winter glow perfectly camouflages any party season wear and tear!
Celebrity inspiration: Behati Prinsloo
Hair: Sweep your locks back into a loose, low bun just above the nape of the neck. The key to mastering this look is using a great hair texturizer and pulling some wisps down haphazardly to frame the face. Voila! You’ve got effortless elegance.
Makeup: Keep it minimal. Subtly emphasize the eyes with a shiny white shadow applied near the inner corners and a hefty coat of lengthening mascara. On the lips, opt for a self-adjusting stain formula that will adapt to your specific skin tone—a very cool beauty innovation that works wonders!
