Spexy Essentials for a Fa-BOO-lous Halloween

The spookiest holiday is upon us, y’all! Come Saturday, mini ghosts, goblins and ghouls will hit the streets for a round of infamous trick-or-treating. Whether you’re accompanying your little ones on their ambitious candy hunt, or you’re going the crazier route and hitting up a wildly creepy holiday party, bar crawl or concert, you’re gonna need a fa-boo-lous costume to set you apart from the crowd. This has been an amazing year for TV, so why not dress up like your favorite character? Take a look at the personalities we suggest mimicking this Halloween, with specs and sunnies that will totally take the ensembles to the next level, below.

For Guys: Women everywhere fell in love with the brooding Ray Velcoro in the recent stint of the epic drama “True Detective” – dudes can look the part with slicked-back tresses and a blazer/button-down combo paired with a Southwestern-inspired bolo tie and classic black aviators from Randolph Engineering. Spoiler alert! The genuine, brave zombie-hunter Glenn Rhee recently met his demise on “The Walking Dead” – pay tribute to his legacy with a rugged get-up, lotsa fake scratches and blood, a faux weapon (that will do no harm, of course!) and these outdoorsy Costa sunnies. The hilariously dapper Roger Sterling of “Mad Men” is arguably one of the most loved characters of the era – for a night, spray your hair white (if it isn’t already), wear a fake mustache and rock the most badass suit you can find with chunky black square specs from Banana Republic.

For Gals: If you’ve seen the “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” then you know how hilarious the main character Kimmy is – transform yourself into the ex-cult member and naïve New Yorker by rocking an elementary outfit with her signature yellow cardigan and matching geek chic glasses from Face à Face. Transform yourself into Olivia Pope – the gorgeous crisis manager, who often finds herself in the center of dishonor on “Scandal” – with professional-meets-swanky attire and bold Jackie O-inspired round sunnies with a twist from Derek Lam. Embrace your love of politics by disguising yourself as leading lady Claire Underwood of “House of Cards” – a perfectly tailored business outfit with tortoise wayfarer glasses from Lucky Brand will do the trick.
