Somehow Versace comes back every season with even more cutting edge eyewear than before, and the bold spring/summer 2012 Étoile De La Mer (translation: Star of the Sea) collection is no exception. The latest specs and shades were designed by none other than creative director, Donatella Versace, who channeled the idea of a sexy siren arriving in the city in the midst of a sweltering summer for inspiration. The results can be admired in three designs – two sunnies and one pair of glasses – that capture the sensuality and strength of Donatella’s muse. Versace enlisted the seasoned, not to mention gorgeous, Gisele Bündchen to showcase the edgy frames for their advertising campaign.
To celebrate the launch of the collection, the Étoile De La Mer frames were debuted at an exclusive, star studded dinner in Paris last week. The evening was hosted by Donatella herself, who shared the evening with the likes of Salma Hayek, Diane Kruger, Abbie Cornish, Berenice Bejo and Anna Wintour, among many others. Famous A-listers were able to try on the frames and pose for pictures as they enjoyed a night of wining and dining. We can’t wait to get our hands on a pair of these frames when they hit stores this spring!
